HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 - Trailer

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

Dawn of The Planet of The Apes TRAILER TIME!

The trailer for Dawn of The Planet of The Apes is out! Though I'm bummed we wont see James Franco again, I'm sure this will be great! The trailer doesnt show much, its more of a teaser. Check it out below...

Grand Piano Trailer!!!

Grand Piano stars Elijah Wood a concert pianist named Tom Selznick and John Cusack who plays a strangely insane man who threatens Selznick's life if he doesn't play the greatest piano concert he has ever played. Its not a comedy, and it looks interesting to say the least. I'd throw it on a rental list unless some reviews come out saying its worth a viewing in the theater. Check out the trailer below!

Interstellar - trailer!

I caught the trailer for Interstellar while at the release of the Hobbit last week. I knew nothing about it, but after watching the trailer I needed to learn everything about it. I was very intrigued immediately. What I've learned is, this is a Sci-Fi movie starring a load of great actors including: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Cassey Affleck, Michael Caine, and Topher Grace. In Interstellar, a group of explorers discover a wormhole in space which will allow them to explore areas far more remote than we've ever done before. Where they go and what they are doing beats me, but I cant wait to find out. Check out the trailer below, its just a teaser but its enough to get the job done.

Release date: November 7th, 2014

3 Days to Kill trailer - Costner is back!

3 Days to Kill looks like a million other movies that have been made before it. The only difference is, this one stars Kevin Costner. So yeah I'm giving it a better than average chance of being good for that reason alone. Take a look at the trailer for yourself. Im sure you'll see the similarities to Mission Impossible 2, Transporter 2, Crank, etc etc etc.

Release Date: Feb 21, 2014

Edge of Tomorrow trailer!

Too early for flapjacks? Edge of Tomorrow stars, Tom Cruise fighting in a sweet mech suit in what looks to be a pretty epic battle, then dies, and does it all again the next day. Very Groundhog Day-ish. Instead of learning to play the piano or ice sculpt, he learns to be an elite solider. I love Tom Cruise movies, and I feel this will be no exception. Check out the trailer below!

GODZILLA!!! TRAILER!! MUST SEE!!

Its here! Its here!! Its here!!! The Godzilla trailer is here! Oh man this looks good. Nothing to say, you gotta see it!

Jupiter Ascending - trailer time!

Jupiter Ascending stars Mila Kunis who plays a human named Jupiter Jones, that has been targeted for assassination by the queen of the universe. Channing Tatum plays Caine a genetically engineered ex-military man set to protect her. This might be a "Snow White and the Huntsman" meets "Elysium" kind of movie. I have no idea, Im guessing, could be way off. Check out the trailer below...

Release Date: July 25, 2014

I, Frankenstein trailer!!!

I, Frankenstein starring Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy (who plays a creepy guy in about everything he is in). I, Frankenstein hasnt been talked about much but based on this trailer it doesnt look half bad. Not amazing by any means, but certainly worth a rental. I'll wait to read some of the preliminary reviews before I decide on going to the theater to see it. Check it out for yourself below.

Newest Pompeii trailer looks Fantastic!!!

Pompeii has released their newest trailer. I cant speak for the story or casting but the movie looks fantastic visually plus there should be some sweet gladiator scenes! I suspect this may be one of the few movies I go out of my way to see in 3D.

Fast and Furious 7...now what?

Things move fast in Hollywood. From Fast and Furious 7 staying with the current story line, to rewriting the script to remove Brian O'Conner, to now possibly scraping it all together. The Wrap reports that F&F7 may do a total re-shoot and let Fast and Furious 6 be the end of the story line for O'Conner. Even though the movie is nearly 50% complete and there would be a massive finacial issue to deal with, it sounds like the insurance would cover this kind of scenario. And we already know there is a funeral in F&F7 for Sung Kang's character Han. It may be a bit much to have two in one movie. But it sounds like the studio would still like to keep the July 11th, 2014 release date if at all possible with whatever scenario they go with. With all that being said, these are volatile times for the F&F franchise and Im sue there will be a lot more back and forth before they settle on a plan. But i would expect some resolution to this quickly seeing how July 11th will be here before you know it. Check back often as I will keep us all up to date with the latest Fast and Furious news.

The Wolf of Wall Street Trailer!!!

The Wolf of Wall Street is a story about a man named Jordan Belfort and his rise to success by running a corrupt broker house. Belfort is played by Leonardo DiCaprio and this is exactly the kind of movie that DiCaprio does so well in. Check out the trailer below. This is one good looking movie!

10 Best Christmas movies EVER made!

Another great movie list! Nothing starts an argument around the holidays like the best Christmas movies topic. There are hundreds, probably thousands of Christmas movies out there. Picking through them and getting a list of just 10 is no easy feat. However, the easiest way to whittle the list to 10 is to pick those movies that can be watched over and over again, or that are must see movies before the 25th rolls around.

Because it's 2013, and some of these date way back, there may be some movies in this list you havent seen. But regardless, these are classic movies and our old readers will appreciate them. If you havent seen one or two of them, check em out. The below list includes all genres from, comedy, drama, and action, both modern and classic. Have a problem with our list? Think you can do better? Post a comment below, tell us where we messed up.

#10 A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
Lucy Van Pelt "Look, Charlie, let's face it. We all know that Christmas is a big commercial racket. It's run by a big eastern syndicate, you know."

#9 Die Hard (1988)
Hans Gruber "Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho."

#8 The Santa Clause (1994)
Scott Calvin "Can we take a direct flight back to reality, or do we have to change planes in Denver?"

#7 Gremlins (1984)
Kate "You say you hate Washington's Birthday or Thanksgiving and nobody cares, but you say you hate Christmas and people treat you like you're a leper."

#6 Elf (2003)
Buddy "We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup."

#5 miracle on 34 street (1947)
some could say Thanksgiving movie based on when it took place, but hey its main character is santa
Susan Walker "If you're really Santa Claus, you can get it for me. And if you can't, you're only a nice man with a white beard like mother says."

#4 Its a Wonderful Life (1946)
George Baily "Isn't it wonderful? I'm going to jail!"

#3 National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (1989)
Eddie "I don't know if I oughta go sailin' down no hill with nothin' between the ground and my brains but a piece of government plastic."

#2 A Christmas Story (1983)
Ralphie "Some men are Baptists, others Catholics; my father was an Oldsmobile man."

#1 Home Alone (1990)
Kevin McCallister "Is this toothbrush approved by the American Dental Association?"

Fast & Furious 7 GO or NO GO?

I've grown up watching Paul Walker play Brian O'Conner in the Fast and Furious movies. He was an incredible actor and from what I here was a down to earth guy and will be greatly missed. Though movies dont mean anything compared to the loss of life, with the tragic news about the death of Paul Walker, comes a lot of unknowns.

What will become of Fast and Furious 7? How much of the movie has been shot, will it still be made, any word about the announced 8th and 9th movie?

Well the short answer is there still will be a 7th F&F. The Hollywood Reporter reports that F&F 7 is a go but will be delayed. James Wan held a conference call this past Sunday to discuss the state of the film and whether or not the script will need to be tweaked in a respectful way in such a way that Paul Walker's character can be written out of the story. So despite Mondays filming in Atlanta is canceled, Fast & Furious 7 will go on once they figure all this out. As for F&F 8 and or 9, no word out about that just yet. Many of the members of the cast have been together since the first film was made in 2002. So there is a lot of history there. Im curious to see if they have the heart to keep the franchise going. The F&F franchise has made $2.3 billion worldwide, but I wonder if that will be enough of a fact to keep the cast together. We will have to see..

Saving Mr. Banks Trailer!

Saving Mr. Banks, starring Tom Hanks, is a story about Walt Disney and author P. L. Travers and the production of Traver's novel Mary Poppins. This trailer has been out for awhile now, but as we get closer to the Dec 20th release date I am getting more and more excited. Though I love me some Tom Hanks, I think I would prefer a lesser known actor to play Walt. But I'm by no means worried about the casting. Tom Hanks will be Tom Hanks and rock it like he always does.

If you haven't seen the trailer, you need to check it out below. And I've also attached a featurette about this movie. Enjoy!

RoboCop Trailer 3!!!

The best thing about this is that the story deviates from the original based on what Im seeing from this trailer. Don't mess with success unless you have the guts to put yourself out there and roll the dice on your remake. The new Robocop really feels like a movie that could be good enough to take those creative liberties with the story. I mean of course the fundamentals of the movie will be the same: Cop stands up to crime, cop gets hurt so badly that clearly the only option is to put whats left of him in a robot suit, cop gets revenge. But the other nuances of the movie seem different. This trailer implies that he is aware of who he was the moment he awakes. That alone is a huge difference. Think about it. When Murphy gets home he is going to be a pretty awesome dad. Hard to compete with that. I think if you'd ask Bill Cosby, he much rather be RoboDad than Ghost Dad. I just can't wait to see this remake and what they do with it. Check out the new international trailer below!
*Ohh and thank goodness Michael Keaton is in this. That guy rules.

Newest NEED FOR SPEED trailer!!

This Need For Speed trailer doesnt tell me anything about what this movie is about...well maybe it does. Cars? I'll pretty much watch any car based movie or movie with Michael Keaton in it for that matter, but I hope this has some form of a plot to it. And at the very least a spike strip scene (favorite part of the game). Check it out below

2 NOAH trailers are ready for you!!!

The Bible is FULL of movie worthy events. We all saw how widely successful the Bible series was on the History Channel. Im not suggesting that Noah is the first big movie Hollywood has made from the Bible. I am saying that it has been awhile since they have put their full weight behind one of these stories. Noah could be a litmus test and possibly open the market up for more Bible based movies. We will have to wait and see. But for now you'll have to hold yourself over with these 2 trailers below. One the US version and the other, international. Enjoy! I did!

Disney's Maleficent Official Teaser Trailer!!!

Maleficent...Perfect casting for her. Maleficent is played by Angelina Jolie, and I have to say this looks pretty amazing. Princess Aurora will be played by Elle Fanning. Sure this is just a teaser and is only a min long but Im really looking forward to finding out more about it. Good thing is it's less than a year away. This movie is to be released May 30th of 2014.

Austin Powers 4 Rumored

Nah Baby! I mean Yeah Baby...
Like it or not, we may be getting a 4th Austin Powers. I guess the next generation needs their toilet and double entendre fix. I will say at least Mike Myers is in for the movie and there wont be some kind of origin story like Dumb and Dumberer. I for one would rather see a new Waynes World. Not saying that wont happen, just saying this one is more likely to happen at this point.

No release date is set

The LEGO Movie - Trailer #2

The Lego Movie is something I really want to like. After watching the second trailer I'm having doubts that it will meet my hopes. The movie stars Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks and a slew of other big names. But I'll be honest, the only parts of this trailer that made me laugh were the scenes with Will Arnett playing Batman. Check it out for yourself. Im sure the kids are going to love it though. There is a lot going on.

Beetlejuice 2, Beetlejuice 2, Beetlejuice 2!

Beetlejuice 2, Beetlejuice 2, Beetlejuice 2! The Wrap  reports that Tim Burton and Michael Keaton are in talks to make a second Beetlejuice movie and I couldn't be more excited about it. Neither Keaton or Burton can do wrong in my eyes. Beetlejuice is perfect for a sequel and its a great opportunity to get Tim Burton back on top, he's been quite for a few years now. As far as Michael Keaton goes, he's due for a leading role again. I was bummed to hear he didnt get the new Batman role, but he certainly nailed his supporting role as Captain Gene Mauch in The Other Guys.
No official release date set, but it cant come soon enough.

Disney releases newest FROZEN trailer!

'Frozen' is Disney's latest animated creation and is loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairly tale, The Snow Queen. This newest trailer gives you a much better look into what the movie is about and let's us hear what I assume will be the main song to go along with the film. This has the feel of a Disney classic the only thing left after watching the movie is to buy your daughter the dress that Anna will be wearing and wait for the ride to be built in The Magic Kingdom. Below is the newest trailer and if you'd like to go back and watch the teaser trailer you can see it here.

Liam Neeson stars in Non-Stop a MUST SEE TRAILER!!!

Non-Stop stars Liam Neesen, an undercover US Air Marshall named Bill Marks. While on his assigned flight from New York to London he receives an anonymous text saying that one person every 20 mins will be killed. The hijacker in his or her attempt to trade money for lives has also framed Marks which puts him in the middle of the fight between the hijacker and the anti-terrorist team. But if we know one thing about Mr. Neesen its that he has a '...particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.'

I suspect he will be fine! Seriously looking forward to this one. Seeing him grab that gun in free fall sold me on it. See for yourself in the trailer below!

Hey Rock, meet Earth in 'San Andreas'

Deadline reports that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be starring in an upcoming disaster movie called Somehow I can picture The Rock coming  from shooting a scene in his up coming Hercules: Thracain Wars movie straight over to the San Andreas movie set and suggesting to the director "so hey, I got an idea. What if my character has to hold a couple of tectonic plates together while people run to safety. Cool right?"

All I know is, I can watch pretty much any movie Johnson stars in. He makes bad movies watchable and good movies amazing. G.I. Joe Retaliation was pretty weak, but I people gave it a chance simply because the added The Rock (and of course killed off Channing Tatum's character). So an all out doomsday, sky is falling earthquake action movie with only one chance to save the day...The Rock...I'll see it!

No official release date, probably sometime in 2015

I guess it doesnt matter at this point kids everywhere will be tuned in and Im sure it wont disappoint. Below is a small teaser of the show. Set your DVRs, Im sure the kiddos will want to watch this over and over so you can give your Toy Story DVDs a rest.

The Monuments Men Trailer 2!!!

The Monuments Men second trailer came out yesterday and this one gets a much more dramatic vibe than its first one. The first trailer had a lighter feel with a bit more comedy and the assumption of action. With this second trailer I feel we will see a movie that is more serious and heartfelt. It's the kind of movie that may find itself with an academy award nomination. Though I was more excited after seeing the first trailer, I still know this movie will be a great one, just in a different way. We dont need an action comedy despite the actors in this movie. Each one of these guys has the versatility to excel at any script they are given. The Monuments Men truly has an all-star cast. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit Trailer ONE!

Chris Pine plays a young CIA agent named Jack Ryan, who discovers a Russia plot to bring down the U.S. economy with a terrorist attack. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit also stars Keira Knightley, and the great Kevin Costner.

Chris Pine has really emerged as a qualtiy action star with the success of the new Star Trek movies. This will be another opportunity to see if he can carry an action movie by himself. Looking forward to seeing another trailer or two to get a better vibe if this one will be any good. At the very least, I'd say I'm interested at this point.

FIRST Godzilla trailer!

The first footage of Godzilla!
Check out the trailer!

Release date: May 16, 2014

**EDIT**

Sorry the video has been pulled from all sources I have seen. When a new official trailer is released you'll see it right away on Movie Oven. But what I can tell you is I saw it and its short but looks amazing.
1. Seems dark and bleak like it should
2. There will be massive action
3. No Matthew Broderick! (I couldnt stand the last Godzilla movie, but to be fair he was only part of the reason I hated it. It was bad on so many levels)

CZ12 Jackie Chan is BACK!!

CZ12 could be considered a reboot or possibly a sequel to Jackie's Operation Condor movie from 1991. But all I know is this trailer is action relentless! Its movies like this that really allow Jackie to shine. I dont think this one will be a disappointment. CZ12 will more than tie my over until the release of Rush Hour 4 (fingers crossed they make that one).

Enjoy the trailer!

Thor 2: The Dark World NEW TRAILER!!!

You might have already seen this if you are a Marvel fan like me and watched Agents of Shield. The below clip aired during tonight's episode. With this trailer, it reinforces that it will be darker (no pun intended), less humor, and more action. I welcome all of that. Also a much longer look at the villain. Check it out if you haven't already seen it, or watch it again. I did...

Finally a trailer that shows what I was hoping for…A lot more emphasis on the SEAL team rescue. This movie is looking better and better. I remember reading about this hijacking when it first happened, so I know the 'real' outcome, and that was a cool enough ending. However Im looking forward to seeing what Hollywood does with it. Check out the extended trailer below.

Lucas Black Added to Fast and Furious 7 Ohh and 8 AND 9!

So there are 2 big things going on with the Fast and Furious Franchise.

1. This is exactly what I've been waiting to hear. Now that the movies have realigned and the time line is current in the series, its time Lucas Black gets back in the car. Deadline is reporting that Lucas Black has signed on to join the Fast and Furious 7 group. This is huge news since he fit the part so well and many were disappointed when the timelines got all jacked up after Tokyo Drift leaving no easy way for him to stay in the series. But F&F 7 rights the ship and here comes Black. Ohh right and did I mention that Kurt Russell is in for 7 also? Honestly, this franchise knows exactly how to entertain and well...print money

2. Now this technically is the bigger piece of news. Deadline reports that not only will there be a 7th film, but there will also be an 8th and 9th! F&F films get better and better with each one and they add to the cast every time. And not with B actors but with legitimate stars. Just think about it. With the 7th movie alone they will be adding Lucas Black, Jason Statham, and Kurt Russell. Who knows what and who will get for an 8th and 9th movie.

All I know is that I never want this series to end and I will be first in line on July 11, 2014 for Fast 7!

Captain Phillips - starring Tom Hanks

Who doesn't like pirates? We all do. But you know what I like better than pirates? Navy SEALS. 'Captain Phillips' stars Tom Hanks who plays Captain Richard Phillips, the captain of a US-flagged cargo ship that was hijacked in 2009 by Somali pirates (not the good kind of pirates). Not in 200 years has an American cargo ship been hijacked and the Navy SEALS are sent in to put an end to it. Check out the trailer below. Im not digging the accent, but Im sure Hanks will do a good job with this.

Grudge Match - Starring Stalone & De Niro

Ok, I did not expect to like this as much as I did. I Just watched the below trailer for the movie 'Grudge Match' starring Sylvester Stallone, and Robert De Niro. They play 2 ex boxers who are talked out of retirement to settle a score 50 years after their last fight. I've recently wondered who the next long term action star would be, and I think since no one seems to be stepping up, we are going to see more movies with aged stars taking these kinds of rolls. Similar to 'Space Cowboys', 'The Last Stand' and 'Last Vegas'. I certainly dont mind watching these great actors continue to take big movie rolls. But I digress.

Raging Bull, meet Rocky Balboa, throw in some comedy from Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin and I think we've got a pretty interesting movie here. Looks like a lot of fun but I suspect there will be a good message thrown in here somewhere. I'll say that De Niro has his work cut out for him seeing how Stallone is still ripped from playing movies like the Expendables series. So it should be fun to watch how these two old time fighters morph back into some form of their former fit characters.

Release Date: Dec 25, 2013
(Last time Stallone fought on Christmas it worked out pretty well for him)

Homefront - starring James Franco & Jason Statham

'Homefront' stars Jason Statham who plays an ex DEA agent who moves he and his daughter to a small town. Shortly after arriving he gets mixed up with a local meth drug dealer played by James Franco. Homefront was written by Sylvester Stallone which is probably why this Statham movie doesnt look like the 100 others he's made. I mean lets be honest, Jason Statham has really only made 1 movie, copied many times, and renamed. But looks like Stallone has written something with a lot more substance here and Im instantly drawn to it based on what Ive seen from this trailer. Not to mention that Franco's character looks pretty evil and provides a great deal of stress in just this 2 min clip. Check it out for yourself. Looks like a pretty good action thriller.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - newest trailer

Below is the newest trailer for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television show. This one shows off the lighter side of the show. I really think with the popularity of the Marvel movies, that it would take a real train wreck of a show to make this not watchable.

RoboCop - Trailer

The 'RoboCop' remake will be released  Feb 7th 2014 luckily just in time for Valentine's Day. Based on the trailer, posted below, there are some obvious observations. 1. The suit looks amazing and even cooler when it goes black with the red knightrider light. 2. The way in which Murphy gets hurt so badly that he needs the suit is very different. In the original movie he is shot up so brutally that its hard to even watch. One of the most disturbing scenes of any movie really. In this remake it appears that he gets hurt via a car bomb. Some of you may hope for the more graphic attack. I for one am glad to see a tamer version. By no means does this mean that the rest of the movie will be tame. Im just glad that this scene seems to not be quite the traumatic scene that it was in 1987. I suspect that the new RoboCop will have more of a 'Dredd' feel, just maybe not that one part.

As far as the casting goes, I love seeing Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson getting into this movie. Should make for a fun movie no matter how the action plays out.
Check out the trailer below. Tell me what you think. Looking forward to this?

God's Not Dead - Movie Trailer

'God's Not Dead' Is the story of a philosophy professor who takes on a student that wants to battle him on the existence of God. Below I've posted the trailer and an interview with Kevin Sorbo who plays the professor. Kevin talks about why you should see this movie and what interested him about making it. Looks thought provoking and pretty well made despite its low budget.

Kurt Russell may join Fast & Furious 7 cast

As if the cast of the Fast & Furious series couldnt get more star studded, it looks as though Kurt Russell may be joining up! Seems they are taking plays right out of the Expendables play book. Bringing together the best, most recognizable actors, past or present. I cant think of anyone better. Of course there are obvious questions that come with this, what role will he be playing, can we expect to see the Pork Chop Express as his vehicle of choice, will he have an eye patch? But seriously, Russell has made some amazing action movies and to see him get a part in this, even if its the villain, I have to believe it will only make this movie rock even more. Wouldnt bother me one bit if Kurt took the lead of this whole thing. Im in! He's already proven he is no stranger to performance driving with Stuntman Mike and Of course the great Jack Burton.

Jack Burton: Like I told my last wife, I says, "Honey, I never drive faster than I can see. Besides that, it's all in the reflexes."

July 11, 2014 cant get here soon enough

Gravity or no Gravity

Clearly this is 'Open Water' but just in space. And the trailers are amazing and visually stunning but they are only 2 mins long. Can 'Gravity' with its star cast of Clooney and Bullock carry the 2 hour movie? I don't know, but its getting great early reviews. Im skeptical. Either way it seems like if you're willing to drop 10 bucks to see it, you should throw in $2 more and watch it in 3D, otherwise you can play it safe and just rent it. I feel like we may be seeing the best parts of the movie in the trailer, though Im sure there will be lots of drama and stress in the few mins after the drifting event that should make for a good watch. Its up to you. Im still not sure if I'll be seeing it in the theater. I don't see anything else worth watching on Oct 4th, so I just might go.

Last Vegas - Trailer

'Last Vegas' = The Wolf Pack at 60+. Its the story of three 60 year olds tasked with throwing a bachelor party for their life long friend. The movie stars; Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, and Kevin Kline. No shortage of talent in this movie, and for better or worse you can clearly see someone just put an old age twist on the successful 'Hangover' franchise. With this cast and this story line and what I can see from the trailer, it looks like 'Last Vegas' should appeal to a lot of people, especially those that grew up watching these great veteran actors.

The Grandmaster - Trailer

It's been a long time since there has been a martial arts movie that looks as good as 'The Grandmaster' seems to be. I cant tell you one actor in this movie and I certainly cant pronounce any of their names, so that tells me there wont be any regular American actors faking any accents. I dont know much about the story, other than the Grandmaster is the man who trained the great Bruce Lee. Good enough for me. Check out the trailer below. Fight scenes look intense and the cinematography looks amazing.

The Monuments Men - Trailer

'The Monuments Men' is based on the true story of a group of men comprised of historians and curators sent to protect the art that the Nazis have stolen before they are destroyed. The movie is loaded with talented actors like, George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, and my favorite, John Goodman. The Monuments Men is set to release this year on December 18. So before you go see 'The Lone Survivor', go check this one out. Looks to have a good balance of drama and lightheartedness.

Lone Survivor - Trailer one MOVING

'Lone Survivor' is based on the real life story of a Navy SEAL mission called "Operation Red Wings" that took place in June of 2005. If you dont know the story of 'Operation Red Wings' or dont want to know prior to actually seeing the movie adaptation of it, dont read anything about this movie. In fact its best just to turn your brain off completely. Otherwise, Im sure you will easily be able to figure out what the movie/story is all about based on the title.

This is the story of four members of SEAL Team 10 that were sent into the mountains of Afghanistan for surveillance and reconnaissance of the Taliban leader, Ahmad Shahd, and if possible capture or kill Shahd. However, just a few short hours after being dropped in the SEAL team was ambushed and a fire fight ensued. 'Lone Survivor' is writer/director 'Peter Berg's' adaptation of the mission, rescue attempt and survival of the men involved.

This movie stars Mark Wahlberg (Marcus Luttrell), Taylor Kitsch, and Eric Bana. I've watched the trailer below four times now. I found it incredibly moving.  'Lone Survivor' doesnt seem to be your run of the mill Hollywood-ized adaptation of a true story turned into an 80's action movie. There is so much more depth here. Im really drawn into this story, the characters and the intense drama that I saw in these 2 short mins. Im not naive to the fact that they probably have added to the story. Thats just what Hollywood does. But regardless, I havent been this intested in a military story turned movie since 'Act of Valor' (guess that wasnt that long ago).

Peter Berg maybe didnt set out to win an Oscar with this film, but "Lone Survivor' has Oscar bait written all over it. As well as another chance for Wahlberg to get the credit for the fine acting he has been doing lately.

Check out the trailer below. Tell me what you think. Am I making too much of this movie too soon?

Elysium - looking better with every trailer

Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player

Google has created one of the slickest little media players. The Chromecast plugs directly into your T.V.'s HDMI port. It's extremely easy to setup and connect to your home wifi. From that point you simply connect it to the Android or Apple device of your choice and with the tap a button whatever is playing can instantly beam the music or video to your T.V. What makes it even cooler is its not just video or music. Anything you are looking at on your device can be mirrored to your T.V. So you could display the website of your choice or easily show off photos of your last trip.

Another cool feature is that your phone, tablet or computer, when connected, becomes the remote control for the media. The Chromecast works across many platforms like, Android, iOS, Chrome for Windows or Mac, and Chrome OS on Chromebook Pixel. So you're pretty much covered with nearly anything you own.

Use this at home, take it on vacations and use it in your hotel, or take it to the grandparents house and show them photos of the kids.  Hard to pass on this product for that price. It may not have all the bells and whistles just yet, but Google has plans to expand its capabilities like adding Pandora etc.

This really isnt much different from what a Roku or Apple TV can do. It does currently have far less channels. However, here is the kicker. The Chromecast is only $35 bucks! If you dont already have a Roku/Apple TV, this probably isnt for you. But if you are interested in streaming media on your T.V. but never wanted to fork out the $99 bucks for other devices, than the Chromecast is really a great way to do that without the big investment.

The Chromecast currently supports:
  •  Netflix
  • YouTube
  • Google Play
  • And any website shown on your Chrome browser

What's included:
  • Chromecast
  • HDMI extender
  • USB power cable
  • power adapter

Pick up the Chromecast here on Amazon

Gravity - Newest Trailer

Would love to see 'Gravity' in 3D in an IMAX theater. Of course I dont think that would be wise for those that get motion sickness. It may not turn out to be a movie with much substance but I cant imagine that youd want to see this on DVD. You would maximize its potential only on the big screen. Check out the newest trailer below. Does this movie interest you?

42 - 2013 (PG-13)

If the U.S. Congress called Rosa Parks "the first lady of civil rights", then Jackie Robinson would be the first man. In '42' we follow the story of Jackie Robinson and the historical signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers where he breaks the color line into major league baseball.

For starters you do not need to be a baseball fan to enjoy 42. Similar to watching Ken Burns' 'Baseball', 42 tells this story from every angle. This is no documentary though and luckily it moves at a much faster pace. However, there is plenty of baseball to entertain those just looking for a good sports movie.

The lead role of Robinson is played by Chadwick Boseman. Most of his work is in TV and theater, and not well known for his movies rolls. Until now. Without question this movie should launch his career to new heights. He was simply incredible in it and my question is, where has he been?! Boseman is paired with Harrison Ford, who plays Branch Rickey, the general manager of the Dodgers. If not Oscar-winning, then the performances of Boseman and Ford are at the very least Oscar-nominating.

It did feel a bit long in parts, and it can be very disturbing to watch the hatred cast upon Robinson but at the same time you will be inspired by the courage and decency he portrays throughout this time in his life.

By the end of it you may feel a little beat up from the emotions you'll feel. Clearly this is no 'Sandlot' or 'The Natural'. However, Hollywood's adaptation of Robinson's life wraps up well at the end, and you'll be reassured that his life, though rough, he stood tall through it all.

So grab your peanuts and cracker jacks and rent or buy 42...Sorry I couldn't help but to get that in there.

You can pick up the movie at Amazon today here: 42

Or you can rent it Aug 13th through Redbox or Netflix

The Wolverine - Fight on a Train scene

The clip below is of a fight scene where Wolverine is taking on some bad dudes on top of a speeding train. If this scene was released to hype the movie and get us all excited about seeing it, well, its done the exact opposite for me. Past trailers have shown promise that this movie wont be garbage like the last Wolverine movie was. But Im just not feeling it from this one. Ive got a suspicion that this may be the last movie we see from this version of Wolverine.

Ohh also, FYI future movie makers: when you jump from a speeding vehicle, youre still doing the same MPH as that vehicle. So essentially youre not actually capable of 'flying'. You're just jumping.

See for yourself below...

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage - announced

Somehow 'xXx: State of the Union' didn't go straight to DVD, though many that saw it felt like it should. But after seeing it everyone should have been convinced that the series was dead forever. The only one capable of reviving it is Vin Diesel. And it appears that's exactly who Rob Cohen has in mind to right the ship. Cohan has worked with Diesel before in the original Fast and Furious and in the first xXx movie. 'xXx: The Return of Xander Cage' isnt set in stone, it's simply announced. But with as widely popular as Diesel is right now, this is surely to be better that 1 & 2 combined if  they do actually film it. No release date is set yet.

Escape Plan - Trailer one

Here is the newest trailer for 'Escape Plan' starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Jim Caviezel. Lately Arnold and Sly haven't been known for movies with compelling plots, but Escape Plan looks a tad better in that department. After seeing this trailer I'm guessing Sean Archer from 'Face/Off' is having flashbacks.

Pacific Rim - Trailer 4

Here is what is probably the last trailer before the release of this movie. Its a 2 min clip of action and stress. And I'm digging the speech by Idris Elba. This scene reminds me of Bill Pullman's epic speech in Independence Day. Not better than of course...just similar. And if Pacific Rim wasnt as hyped as it has been I would be so sure that it will a hit. But all the hype worries me. Im going to have to forget about all those movies in the past that have been given this much hype and have failed because I really want this to live up to these amazing trailers they are teasing us with.

Enjoy these two mins.

Disneys Frozen - Teaser Trailer

'Frozen' is Disney's latest animated creation and is loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairly tale, The Snow Queen. This is the story of Anna (voiced by Kristen Bell, star of Veronica Mars). Anna joins up with a local mountain man named Kristoff (voiced by Jonathan Groff) and together they set off on an adventure to find Anna's sister Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel).

Supporting comedic characters include a funny snowman named Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad), and a crazy reindeer named Sven. In the trailer posted below these are the only two characters you'll see. We'll have to wait for the first official trailer to see clips of Anna and Kristoff. The trailer looks like an Ice Age type movie tailored to very young kids, but i believe that is just for this teaser trailer and the full length movie will be more like the picture posted above, ie more like Disney's Tangled.

This movie will be available in 3D and standard 2D.

Release Date: November 27, 2013

Elysium - trailer two

'Elysium' is set in 2154 and is about a world in which the rich get to live on a space craft in orbit and everyone else has to live on a ruined Earth. It stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. Everything in me says stay away, but the concept is cool and since the guy directing it is the same one who did District 9, which was fantastic, hopefully it works. It took me awhile to believe that Matt Damon could be an action start but the Bourne movies convinced me that he could. But this being a Sci-Fi action movie may be more than he can handle. I suspect Jodie Foster will be Jodie Foster so no worries there. This shares the same release date at Disney's Planes so if you aren't taking your kids to that, this may be something you want to try. The trailer looks pretty good though. Check it out below...

Snow White and the Huntsman 2 - Announced

'Snow White and the Huntsman 2' has recently been announced. My thought is, do we have to? The first movie was surprisingly ok. With the first movie we had a great performance from Charlize Theron who played Ravenna, and the currently popular Chris Hemsworth who did an ok job with his role as The Huntsman. I believe it goes without saying, but I'll do it anyway, Kristen Stewart goes out of her way to hurt every movie she is in. If this movie does go past 'announced' and its actually filmed, can we at least rename it to 'The Huntsman and other people'? Well at least I tried. Anyway they havent announced the plot yet, but I am curious where you take this story. We'll see.

Release date: sometime in 2015
