Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player

Google has created one of the slickest little media players. The Chromecast plugs directly into your T.V.'s HDMI port. It's extremely easy to setup and connect to your home wifi. From that point you simply connect it to the Android or Apple device of your choice and with the tap a button whatever is playing can instantly beam the music or video to your T.V. What makes it even cooler is its not just video or music. Anything you are looking at on your device can be mirrored to your T.V. So you could display the website of your choice or easily show off photos of your last trip.

Another cool feature is that your phone, tablet or computer, when connected, becomes the remote control for the media. The Chromecast works across many platforms like, Android, iOS, Chrome for Windows or Mac, and Chrome OS on Chromebook Pixel. So you're pretty much covered with nearly anything you own.

Use this at home, take it on vacations and use it in your hotel, or take it to the grandparents house and show them photos of the kids.  Hard to pass on this product for that price. It may not have all the bells and whistles just yet, but Google has plans to expand its capabilities like adding Pandora etc.

This really isnt much different from what a Roku or Apple TV can do. It does currently have far less channels. However, here is the kicker. The Chromecast is only $35 bucks! If you dont already have a Roku/Apple TV, this probably isnt for you. But if you are interested in streaming media on your T.V. but never wanted to fork out the $99 bucks for other devices, than the Chromecast is really a great way to do that without the big investment.

The Chromecast currently supports:
  •  Netflix
  • YouTube
  • Google Play
  • And any website shown on your Chrome browser

What's included:
  • Chromecast
  • HDMI extender
  • USB power cable
  • power adapter

Gravity - Newest Trailer

Would love to see 'Gravity' in 3D in an IMAX theater. Of course I dont think that would be wise for those that get motion sickness. It may not turn out to be a movie with much substance but I cant imagine that youd want to see this on DVD. You would maximize its potential only on the big screen. Check out the newest trailer below. Does this movie interest you?

42 - 2013 (PG-13)

If the U.S. Congress called Rosa Parks "the first lady of civil rights", then Jackie Robinson would be the first man. In '42' we follow the story of Jackie Robinson and the historical signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers where he breaks the color line into major league baseball.

For starters you do not need to be a baseball fan to enjoy 42. Similar to watching Ken Burns' 'Baseball', 42 tells this story from every angle. This is no documentary though and luckily it moves at a much faster pace. However, there is plenty of baseball to entertain those just looking for a good sports movie.

The lead role of Robinson is played by Chadwick Boseman. Most of his work is in TV and theater, and not well known for his movies rolls. Until now. Without question this movie should launch his career to new heights. He was simply incredible in it and my question is, where has he been?! Boseman is paired with Harrison Ford, who plays Branch Rickey, the general manager of the Dodgers. If not Oscar-winning, then the performances of Boseman and Ford are at the very least Oscar-nominating.

It did feel a bit long in parts, and it can be very disturbing to watch the hatred cast upon Robinson but at the same time you will be inspired by the courage and decency he portrays throughout this time in his life.

By the end of it you may feel a little beat up from the emotions you'll feel. Clearly this is no 'Sandlot' or 'The Natural'. However, Hollywood's adaptation of Robinson's life wraps up well at the end, and you'll be reassured that his life, though rough, he stood tall through it all.

So grab your peanuts and cracker jacks and rent or buy 42...Sorry I couldn't help but to get that in there.

You can pick up the movie at Amazon today here: 42

Or you can rent it Aug 13th through Redbox or Netflix

The Wolverine - Fight on a Train scene

The clip below is of a fight scene where Wolverine is taking on some bad dudes on top of a speeding train. If this scene was released to hype the movie and get us all excited about seeing it, well, its done the exact opposite for me. Past trailers have shown promise that this movie wont be garbage like the last Wolverine movie was. But Im just not feeling it from this one. Ive got a suspicion that this may be the last movie we see from this version of Wolverine.

Ohh also, FYI future movie makers: when you jump from a speeding vehicle, youre still doing the same MPH as that vehicle. So essentially youre not actually capable of 'flying'. You're just jumping.

See for yourself below...

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage - announced

Somehow 'xXx: State of the Union' didn't go straight to DVD, though many that saw it felt like it should. But after seeing it everyone should have been convinced that the series was dead forever. The only one capable of reviving it is Vin Diesel. And it appears that's exactly who Rob Cohen has in mind to right the ship. Cohan has worked with Diesel before in the original Fast and Furious and in the first xXx movie. 'xXx: The Return of Xander Cage' isnt set in stone, it's simply announced. But with as widely popular as Diesel is right now, this is surely to be better that 1 & 2 combined if  they do actually film it. No release date is set yet.
